About Stephanie

stephanie-bryanMy life has been about making a difference. I want the world to be a better place for my having passed through. I am an optimist, wanting to make lemonade out of lemons and help others do likewise.

In my early adult years, as a community organizer, I worked on societal problems and issues, wanting to make a difference on a macro level.

When I became a mom, I was determined to raise children who could thrive.  I chose to be a stay-at-home mom and struggled with low self-esteem because I was “only a mom.”  Psychotherapy helped me realize how fortunate I was to have been able to do the important work of parenting and do it successfully.  I then decided I wanted to help others have what I have had – a satisfying, meaningful life as a human being, as a parent, and as an adult.

My dream is to make a difference in the world with a two-pronged approach:

  1. By teaching and coaching parents so they can raise caring, responsible adults who will make a positive contribution to society.
  2. By helping individuals overcome depression, anxiety, and addictions using my training in psychotherapy.

My parenting credentials include my two adult children who have thanked me for the way I have raised them: a daughter who tells others she is raising her children the way she was raised and a son who thanks me for having raised him to be the kind of person his wife would fall in love with. Now, as a grandparent, I have the pleasure of watching my adult children parent effectively, using many of the skills I learned when I was parenting them.

My professional credentials include a Masters Degree in Social Work, an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), and a CAS (Certified Addictions Specialist). I am a certified facilitator of Love and Logic® curricula and a Certified Parent Coach. I have taught and/or coached over 4000 parents since 1997.
