My life has been about making a difference. I want the world to be a better place for my having passed through. I am an optimist, wanting to make lemonade out of lemons and help others do likewise.
In my early adult years, as a community organizer, I worked on societal problems and issues, wanting to make a difference on a macro level.
When I became a mom, I was determined to raise children who could thrive. I chose to be a stay-at-home mom and struggled with low self-esteem because I was “only a mom.” Psychotherapy helped me realize how fortunate I was to have been able to do the important work of parenting and do it successfully. I then decided I wanted to help others have what I have had – a satisfying, meaningful life as a human being, as a parent, and as an adult.
My dream is to make a difference in the world with a two-pronged approach:
- By teaching and coaching parents so they can raise caring, responsible adults who will make a positive contribution to society.
- By helping individuals overcome depression, anxiety, and addictions using my training in psychotherapy.
My parenting credentials include my two adult children who have thanked me for the way I have raised them: a daughter who tells others she is raising her children the way she was raised and a son who thanks me for having raised him to be the kind of person his wife would fall in love with. Now, as a grandparent, I have the pleasure of watching my adult children parent effectively, using many of the skills I learned when I was parenting them.
My professional credentials include a Masters Degree in Social Work, an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), and a CAS (Certified Addictions Specialist). I am a certified facilitator of Love and Logic® curricula and a Certified Parent Coach. I have taught and/or coached over 4000 parents since 1997.
